Deputy Minister
Honourable Nathalia /Goagoses, a Parliamentarian since 2020, currently serves as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation (MHETI). Appointed on September 12, 2023, by the late President Dr. Hage Geingob, she was entrusted with the mission to "strengthen the work of government in the delivery of better services in the higher education sector, including the acceleration of national efforts towards the fourth industrial revolution," according to the Presidency's statement. With this mandate, Hon. /Goagoses demonstrated her respect for authority and patriotism to Namibia by hitting the ground running on her first day in office.
A seasoned educational specialist with a deep understanding of the education system, Hon. /Goagoses brings over 40 years of public sector experience, the majority of which was spent in education. She began her career as a teacher in the rural village of UIS and progressively advanced through various roles, including Head of Department, School Principal, Inspector, and Education Director. Her efforts have established her as a leading figure in advancing educational practices and policies across both rural and urban areas. Additionally, Hon. /Goagoses played a crucial role in the formation of the Namibia Student Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF), highlighting her suitability as a deputy minister with her blend of deep expertise, unwavering commitment, and innovative vision.
Before her current role, Hon. /Goagoses served as a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development. In this capacity, she supported the Minister in ensuring that the ministry became performance-oriented, effectively delivering on its mandate of Land and Housing Delivery, Rural and Economic Development, Decentralization, and Good Governance. Prior to this, she was the Minister's Representative to the Rehoboth Town Council, where she was tasked with transforming and overseeing the council’s activities amidst challenges of mismanagement, poor service delivery, and lack of accountability.
Her appointment as the Minister's Representative was a testament to her successful tenure as Chief Regional Officer (CRO) at the Erongo Regional Council. Known for her focus on 'operational efficiency,' Hon. /Goagoses created a supportive and stimulating work environment for staff, leading the council to achieve five consecutive years of unqualified audit reports, a first for Namibia.
